Immigration and citizenship law
I have honed my skills and knowledge of immigration and citizenship law
since August, 1984, when I started as an articled student to the then
dean of Canadian immigration law, John Taylor. Since then I have
diligently applied them on behalf of hundreds of clients, representing
them in all kinds of matters, including employment-related applications,
provincial nominee applications, business applications, family class
sponsorship and refugee claims.
Advocate
As an advocate I have appeared in various courts and tribunals on
immigration- and citizenship-related cases, presenting arguments leading
to important precedent cases. The appearances include admissibility
hearings, deportation, residency and sponsorship appeals, and refugee
claims, before the Immigration and Refugee Board. It also includes
judicial reviews and appeals before the Federal Court of Canada and the
Federal Court of Appeal, and criminal trials before the Provincial Court
of British Columbia and the Supreme Court of British Columbia.
Educator and speaker
I speak about immigration and citizenship issues at public meetings and
legal education seminars. I have contributed articles to various
newspapers and been asked to provide opinions and comments on radio and
television.
